On March 22, His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo presided at a special Mass to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of St. Justin Martyr Parish in Unionville, Ont.

Marking the occasion with a beautiful liturgy, His Eminence was joined by current Pastor, Msgr. Vid Vlasic, along with eight priests who have served the community over the years.

In his homily, Cardinal Leo recognized the enduring faith of the parish community and invited all present to continue building upon this strong foundation with renewed commitment and service in the years ahead. He also emphasized the vital role of both the young and the elderly in the life of the Church, noting that every generation is not merely of the past or the future, but an essential part of the Church’s present.

Following the Mass, a reception was held, providing an opportunity for fellowship and celebration. His Eminence remained with the community, greeting parishioners and sharing in the joy of this significant milestone.

St. Justin Martyr Parish was established on March 15, 1986, under the leadership of its founding pastor, Rev. Edward McTague. What began as a community of approximately 1,200 families has grown to more than 6,300 families over the past four decades. Today, the parish continues to serve as a spiritual home to a vibrant, warm, and inviting community of faithful. Through its many ministries and pastoral initiatives, the parish remains committed to fostering a spirit of prayer, service and discipleship.

St. Justin Martyr Parish gives thanks to God for His abundant blessings and looks to the future with confidence, trusting in His providence to guide the community in hope for generations to come.
