A Pastoral Visitor is a person who has taken a pastoral visitor workshop and has been installed by a parish priest. He/she has a relationship with God and understands and respects the faith of the sick person, and his or her family.
Visiting the sick is considered a serious pastoral responsibility. In response to the need for spiritual and emotional support to complement medical care, they visit people in their homes, nursing homes, and the hospital, providing a link with their church and offering the compassion and support of the faith community.
We are commissioned by God to visit the sick and bring His body to them. He loves and forgives them, and knows their sufferings. The greatest gift we can offer them is our presence.
If you think you might be called to this ministry, you will need to have approval of the Pastor, fill out volunteer screening forms, and complete a background check. You must take a workshop and be installed by the Pastor.
