In his homily, Archbishop Leo announced the Good News of the Resurrection and reminded the congregation of the importance of Sunday and the Eucharist as the weekly celebration of the resurrection. He emphasized the call to respond to Christ’s love for us by loving Christ in our neighbour and being concerned for those who are most in need – the marginalized and poor in our midst.

Fr. Michael McGourty, Pastor of St. Peter’s said that it was a very exciting time for the parish to welcome the archbishop, “St. Peter’s joyfully welcomed Archbishop Leo for his first official visit as Archbishop of Toronto on the Solemnity of Divine Mercy Sunday.”

“The parish church was full on this wonderful Solemnity within the Octave of Easter,” Fr. McGourty continued, “and it was a delight for parishioners to meet and speak with Archbishop Leo at the reception that followed Mass."
